In 1978, sat in the away changing rooms of the BBC in Motspur Park sat five battle-hardened Barnes 2nd team players. After the game they grumbled of their ailments. They wanted to carry on playing rugby, but the 2nd team was too much. Bob Blair, Dougal Graham, Dave Doonan, Neil Copp & Ian Stoker started what is now the ‘Barnes Vets’!
Your arrival to these pages is no coincidence. You are either here because you already know about us or because you are interested, or you need to escape domestic monotony! Either way, curiosity is a good start and we can help!
Vets play between 10 - 14 games a season against local oppositions such as Richmond, Harlequins & Esher. Whilst our endeavours on the field are central to why we are a team, our liaisons off the field are a large part of why we are all involved. These include mini tours such as to Guernsey, Vets lunches and other socials. If you are looking for a second home and still have old boots, then Barnes Vets welcome you.
