Last Season when my fingers hit the key board I went on to write……...
‘If you keep a pair of boots in the boot of your car often contemplating of what to do with them, or if the sound of a Tesco checkout till on a Saturday afternoon leaves you numb and lost, or worst still, if your walk past the local park studying 30 coloured shirts in the distance with a lump in your throat; then you, my friend, are a VET!!!
Whether you have fallen gracefully from the dizzy heights of 1st XV through injury, or because your bonus structure at work is even more demanding, or perhaps the words “I do” were said without really comprehending the enormity of ‘that’ commitment; do not fear as Barnes VETS is the natural home for you.’
Well, I can honestly say that something resonated with many of you as we had over fifteen new players run out for the Vets and we had a fairly good season finishing third behind Esher and Richmond, both who fought hard for their ‘fortuitous’ victories!
Harrodian Vets is steeped in history and is played at a very competitive standard because we love the game, but we always enjoy a drink (or two) at the Bar and all our opponents savour the warmest of Club atmospheres……! Blackberry and Banter plague mid-week and the enthusiasm for our 15/16 Season is going to be massive having already been training with summer Touch for the last three months!
Vets is about family and friends so come down to arguably the best Club around!
