I want to start this match report with two historical quotes that seem particularly apt:
“All I do is win”
DJ Khaled, 2010
“Stop, stop! He’s already dead”
The Simpsons, 1995
Our womens 1st XV played our second league match against Chinnor Kites on Sunday, producing possibly the biggest win in our history.
The team strolled over to the pitch a cool 25 mins before kick off, after watching our 2s comfortably beat Ealing Trailfinders. We were off to a good start as I managed to provide the team with kit this time, although this didn’t quite stretch to match balls, as the referee deemed ours “too sh*t” and used the oppositions instead.
With no subs or coach, I wouldn’t have blamed Chinnor for being lulled into a false sense of security. This was short lived however, as the game was a try-fest from start to finish. Our attack was so strong Chinnor barely had the ball, and we were 50-0 up at half time. The second half was more of the same, with people scoring so fast it was hard to keep up. Even the referee couldn’t, and we had a group estimate of the final score being 98-7.
The whole team was outstanding, with good vibes all round.
Forward of the match was Sasha, who played out of position as a prop, and turned over more rucks than I could count.
Back of the match was Lily, who scored an outstanding 4 trys and was incredible in defence as always.
Players player this week was Taz, who had an absolutely brilliant game, and also claims to have scored 4, although no one else remembers this.
Next up, Wasps away on 16th October!
