Barnes 3 tries, Redruth 2. Redruth's scrum dominance was matched by some Barnes' back line attacking flair.

The first penalty gave the visitors the first points then an error at the restart set Barnes' three-quarter line running for the first try. Another error at the restart, this time by the home team, then scrum dominance set up the platform for Redruth's first converted try from a rolling maul finished by their scrumhalf. At the start of the second quarter from their line-out Barnes brought their fullback into the line; he broke through to created their second try. Redruth kicked a second penalty for the lead towards the end of the first half.

Early in the second half Barnes regained the lead after charging down an opposition kick then their forwards recycling close to the line set up a try for the scrumhalf. Not long after a penalty created the conditions for a try from Redruth's pack. Both tries were converted. In the final quarter two penalties increased the visitors' lead.

Barnes returned the visitors' kick-off with and up-and-under; Redruth got the ball and soon used the same tactic from which they regained. Next they retained for 10 varied phases before trying another high kick. Three more kicks followed before the first scrum for the home team not far from halfway. Barnes were pushed off their ball; Redruth got it and went wide. After an advance and 4 more phases with no progress they were awarded a penalty a bit more than 11 metres into the opposition half near centre field after 5 minutes and fly-half Honey kicked the points.

Barnes regained from their restart when their opponents let the ball bounce. Two recycles, the second wide set wing Adams off stretching the defence then passing to the other wing Simmons who went to the corner less than two minutes after the restart. The conversion was unsuccessful.

The restart was dropped by Barnes giving Redruth the second scrum 28 metres from their opponents' line. That resulted in a penalty and the visitors kicked for a line-out less than 6 metres out. Their pack set for a drive that was held initially then it crabbed towards the posts before scrum half Oulton got over before 12 minutes. Honey added.

An error after the restart gave Barnes the third scrum 18 metres into the opposition half from which they got the ball away. After recycling mostly close 8 times they passed forward 23 metres from the visitors' line. The scrum resulted in another penalty for Redruth that was kicked for a line-out near halfway. From it they went wide then kicked ahead after 4 phases; Barnes cleared to touch to halfway. This time the visitors' pack kept the ball in; after a small advance the drive went down and they were penalised for not releasing. The kick took Barnes to 29 metres out where they recovered from a tap at the line-out then got a second penalty for a knock-down. Their next line-out 16 metres out was thrown not-straight. From their scrum Redruth soon cleared to touch 14 metres from halfway. Barnes released from the line-out and brought their fullback Hammett into the line and he went clear through the defence before passing to flanker Harbison who ran to the corner after 23 minutes. The conversion was unsuccessful.

The visitors regained their restart then after 3 recycles they did not get the ball out, giving Barnes a put-in 21 metres inside their half. They got the ball out; 4 kicks were exchanged. An error at the last catch gave Redruth a scrum 18 metres into the opposition half. From that their scrumhalf broke close then they recycled mostly close 11 times but forced backwards to their penalty near halfway. The kick took them to just outside the 22; at the line-out Barnes offered no defence to the drive then got a penalty for not releasing. Their kick went into touch 3 metres past halfway. From the line-out they went wide to get another penalty that they ran. After recycling once the lost the ball and Redruth got it; they ran out strongly and after recycling once close and once wide they made more ground before being tackled into touch 8 metres from their opponents' line.

Barnes kept the ball in at their line-out then an error gave the visitors a scrum 12 metres out. From it they recycled close 7 times advancing to the line before being awarded a penalty at 35 minutes. They chose to kick for the 3 points.

They secured the restart then regained am up-and-under then soon cleared to touch well into the other half to 27 metres from Barnes' line. The home team recovered from a tap at their line-out and had the ball before a couple of phases before being turned over. Redruth soon tried an up-and-under from which Barnes got the ball back. At the last breakdown of the half Barnes were penalised 30 metres from their line for arguing with the Ref. Redruth sportingly kicked out for the whistle, 3 points ahead.

The visitors returned the second half restart with a longer up-and-under that Barnes dropped at their 10 metre line. Redruth released to centre from their scrum then were penalised 5 metres ahead. The kick gained 19 metres. From the line-out they kicked to touch 25 metres from the opposition line. After this line-out Redruth had a kick charged down and Barnes got the ball. They advanced to the line with 8 close recycles then scrumhalf Davies got the ball down on the line after 4 minutes. The fullback added to gain the lead for the second time in the game.

After the restart and three further kicks Barnes got a scrum put-in just outside their 22. Their scrumhalf broke from that then after two close recycles blind they were penalised 25 metres out. The visitors kicked for a line-out 6 metres out. Their pack kept the ball close for 3 phases to get another penalty. From the next line-out the forwards drove over wide out with hooker Brown on the ball after 11 minutes, retaking the lead by 1 point. The fly-half added.

The high restart resulted in a scrum for Barnes 16 metres into the half; from it they kept the ball for 4 phases before losing it. Redruth got the ball and cleared to touch at halfway. Barnes threw their line-out not-straight. From the scrum the visitors soon kicked to touch 18 metres past halfway. Again the line-out was thrown not-straight. From the next scrum Redruth advanced going wider with 5 phases before being turned over. Barnes made ground back with 4 phases before using an up-and-under. They got the ball back when an opposition player dropped the catch and kicked diagonally to the wing. This resulted in a scrum for the visitors 12 metres inside their half. From that they soon kicked for territory; Barnes ran back with a couple of phases to their line-out, off an opponent, 5 metres inside their half. From that they had the ball for 4 phases before being turned over. Redruth kicked for territory again and Barnes had to clear to touch 28 metres from their line. They offered no defence to the opposition's drive. Redruth kept the ball close for 6 phases to get a penalty 14 metres out in front of the posts and also a man advantage for 10 minutes. Honey kicked the points for a 6 point lead after 26 minutes.

Redruth soon returned the long restart with a longer kick. Barnes cleared to touch sideways 26 metres from their line. Now the visitors threw a line-out not-straight; from the scrum Barnes went blind and advanced strongly before being forced into touch 6 metres past halfway. After the line-out and three kicks Barnes ran wide before being penalised for not releasing at the opposition 10 metre line. An excellent kick took Redruth to 13 metres from the home team's line. They kept the ball close from the line-out with 7 phases to get another penalty 7 metres out and their fly-half surprisingly missed with his kick. Following the 22 drop-out Barnes got a scrum put-in 17 metres from halfway after preventing the opposition getting the ball out at the second breakdown. From at they had the ball for 4 phases without advance before an error gave Redruth a scrum at about the same distance. The ball was kept in to get a penalty the Honey did kick after 38 minutes. The visitors secured the restart and kept the ball for 4 phases before kicking out before the whistle.
