A year ago we smashed it out of the park by raising over £160,000 for the NHS in memory of Garry Garrett, this year we are at it again

Yes we're at it again, please get involved from 8th May to 15th May as we kick off our major fund raising for 2021 by reprising last year's tremendous Big Lift

Big Lift Reprise – live, upfront and in person on 8th May and virtually and online until 15th May .

Just over the a year ago Barnes RFC and community did a spectacular thing that had a global reach, and lifted spirits and morale.

The Barnes Big Lift, in memory of Garry Garrett, certainly secured our name on the rugby map, raising over £160,000 for the NHS. I am sure you will all agree that t was a truly memorable, and emotional, day for all involved.

This year, to commemorate the anniversary of The Barnes Big Lift, we are doing a reprise of it, which will also launch our fund raising for this years Barnes RFC charity initiative: The Barnes Big Build, which will take place in August.

We will kick off with The Big Barnes Lift Reprise on Saturday 8th May, at the Barnes RFC Clubhouse and the event will run virtually too, as it did last year, from today to 15th May.
The full details of The Big Barnes Build will following over the next few weeks, and how you can take part in it. In brief, it is a Barnes community project, funded by the Barnes RFC community.

Think DIY SOS - delivered by Barnes RFC.

We will be fundraising between now and the August go live date, when 50 people drawn from right across the club, will be helping to build an activity playground, and outdoor fitness trail, around the BEST pitches, which are right opposite the clubhouse where the Minis train. They will be for all the community to use, including those who are members of Barnes RFC, those who use the BEST facilities, local schools and people who just live in Barnes. Our project embraces all ages too, from young ones through to the more mature amongst us!

Please join us on the 8th May to discuss the Lions selection, lift some weights, drinks some beer (other drinks available) and most importantly raise some money for The Big Build
If you can’t join physically on 8th May, please get involved virtually.

Here is a reminder of the miracle we achieved last year - https://vimeo.com/415106833

How to get involved - everyone is welcome from aged 5 to over 90!

I want to come down to the clubhouse on Saturday 8th May and take part – what’s the plan?
It’s easy…this is what you need to do:
• You have 3 minutes to complete your best effort lifting for total weight
• Weight to be lifted from the ground to overhead
• You can lift anything, just like last year, from a tin of beans, to a bible to gym weights – just be careful, and take lots of pics and videos (details on where to post them below)
• Submit the total weight figure to your category captain via WhatsApp e.g 10 kg weighted lifted 50 times = 500kg
• Please donate at least £5 per attempt to Big Lift Reprise fundraising page: www.barnowcares.com
• Honesty is best policy on weights and timings!
