For the last 12 months Patrick had been battling oesophageal cancer but recently had been battling with a chest infection and pneumonia.

After coming to the club on Saturday for his last game, Patirck managed a pint at the clubhouse, before heading home. On Sunday he was admitted to hospital and died peacefully with his wife Bobby and daughter Florence by his side.

I know so many of us have lovely memories of Patrick, and I know of recent weeks we will be sharing them with each other and his family, but for now please just remember him smiling at you, as he now looks down from on high.

He was a special man, and much loved by all who knew him, it is both incredibly sad and unfair that he has left us so early.

I will post on here the details of his funeral when it has been arranged, in the interim please can you think about joining Bobby, Florence and friends on Monday 2nd of May on a walk in Patrick's memory, arranged by Florence some weeks ago, to raise money for Royal Marsden.

It will start and finish at the Barnes RFC clubhouse in Queen Elizabeth Walk.
