Barnes ran out overall winners against Bracknell by one try, the winning score came from Segundo Urraza.
Our other scores came from Dev Hope, James Bloxham, Joe Barnes, Chris Swash and Alex March.
We played three 30 minute games against a good Bracknell squad, and it was great to see a number of new players bed into our attacking and defensive systems, notable performances coming from James Bloxham, and new comers from Bath University, Elliott Powell and Segundo Urraza were also impressive in the final 30 minute period.
During the evening the teams in each period were well led by Josh Davies, Alex March and Cameron Ruddock.
This weekend is a really important one in our preparation for the tough season ahead. 40 players have been selected to attend a full on training camp hosted at Bath University.
The time the squad will spend together over these two days will be invaluable both on and off the field - the combination of spending detailed planning sessions together during the day and quality time socially in the evenings, will help forge the bonds the lads will need to draw on in each game they play together during this season.
On Saturday the players will take part in two rugby sessions, including a scrum session with an ex-Barnes coach, and good friend of the club, Neal ‘Hats’ Hatley, who coached England during their last World Cup campaign, and is currently scrum coach with Bath Rugby.
We are excited to see the lads working with Hats on Saturday, which will give them some great intel on how we can continue to develop and get stronger at the coal face of the game.
To round off the day, on Saturday evening the boys are looking forward to being shown the sights of Bath by Original's legend Cris Pini, who is joining the trip to lend a hand during the day. Cris will make sure that the players enjoy themselves responsibly in true Barnow fashion, whilst upholding the reputation of the club at all times.
