Yesterday the news that Chris Bell is retiring from Professional Rugby was formally announced. I am sure this is a sad time for Chris, whose passion for the game is unparalleled. However, being the character that he is, he will be looking forward to his next challenge.
Chris has had a fantastic rugby career, representing England at Under-16s, Under-18s, Under-19s, Under-21s and England Saxons, he also played for Harlequins, Leeds and Sale before joining Wasps in 2011, and scored five tries in 80 appearances for the club.
What many are not writing about in the media currently, is the enormous impact he has made at Barnes over the past two seasons. His passion, commitment, focus and superstitions (he never wears any club kit at training other Barnes kit) are fundamental pillars of our recent success.
Belly, congratulations from Barnes RFC on a wonderful career and we wish you luck to the future.
