Barnes RFC are delighted to announce that Josh Davies has been appointed Captain for the 2022-2023 season.

I am incredibly proud that Josh is our new Captain next season, he is such a hero for many in the club for so many reasons
- Michael "Rhino" Whitfield

Josh Davies has been with us a few years now. He is a nuggety combative scrum-half, who loves nothing more than to get in the faces of our opposition. Full of passion, Josh uses his speed, physicality and rugby know-how to win on the pitch. Off the pitch he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and I am proud to have him leading our 1st XV this season. I also want to thank Ryan Seabright for his leadership last year, Ryan is stepping down as Captain due to work commitments but we hope to see him in the green and gold during the season at some stage.

When told about his appointment, unanimous amongst all of the coaches, Josh said:
"To be named captain of Barnes is a huge honour. Ever since coming to barnes four seasons ago, it’s felt like home. I’ve had some great memories in that time. Including beating Redruth away in each of my three attempts, and helping raise over £160,000 in memory of the great Gary Garrett, father of club legend Jack Garrett, and the list could go on. This club is so special. We have an exciting playing squad this season, with huge potential. A lot of hard work has already gone in over the summer to bring in some real quality, and I’m excited to be leading this squad to its most successful season in National 2. I look forward to seeing you on the touch line supporting us and I hope we can do the green and gold jersey, and the club, proud this season”.

Josh's will be supported by Ryan Nixon who has joined us from close rivals Richmond. Ryan is a New Zealand born backrow forward, and is part of a growing leadership team within the 1st XV squad.

On behalf of the club I wish both Josh and Ryan all the very best for the season ahead and can't wait to see them in action.
