The Coming Season

Having been playing rugby on-and-off for 25 years I retired from playing for Barnes 1st XV around six years ago. However I was delighted to get back into the game last season which I thoroughly enjoyed and to be asked to be Captain for this season is an honour.  However, I have found that in order to play regularly now, I have to work much harder at the game and my fitness than I used too. Yes, it’s old age creeping up on me, but I have to be careful with what I eat and drink, I go the gym twice a week and I play touch rugby on Tuesday night

And so for this season I am going to commit to as many games as my body will allow; I will turn up on time and play the best I can; and I will always stay for a couple of drinks afterwards. If everyone can do the same then we will have a great group of players, which with a reduced number of league games, I really think we can at least match last season’s result. I would very much like all wives, girlfriends and kids to come along and join in too and I hope that everyone enjoys the season !!.

Rich Williams, Beasty Gardner and Goodwinski look very relieved having survived a torrid colonic irrigation session at the Vets 2010 Reunion Lunch

Nick Morgans in Barnes Vets debut against Ealing on 17th October 2009 shows he has learnt quickly to ignore the screaming Springy. Barnes won 61-12.
