As the British judicial system once again creates the unexpected, as US democracy once again provides comical chaos, Irish rugby proves anything is possible!
Conversely Harrodian Vets proved to ourselves that a 19-17 lead at half time is not bigger than ‘belief’! Esher Expendables did have belief and whatever they agreed on at half time was converted into 19 points against us in playing uncomplicated rugby and capitalising on our mistakes.
It was a game of two halves and one we really could have should have and needed to win. In phases we played well and in the first half defended well, but we became disjointed and stated to lose our form early in the second half.
There are two huge lessons to be taken from this loss:
Start to believe in our abilities, our game plan and the reason we play for each other. Secondly, you need the ball to win and, you need to use the set piece to good effect and get the ball out wide.
It doesn’t become any more complicated than that.
The next two weeks see us resting, reflecting and getting our head around these two points in preparation for redemption v London Irish on Saturday 26th.
Two tries to Sean Gibson who played an exceptional game and one to Cris Pinni with two conversions from Marek.
