Launceston scored 6 points with the boot while the visitors' fullback kicked 13. The home team scored 5 tries to the opposition's 4.

Barnes had a 16 point lead by half time, courtesy of 2 forward tries just before and just after the end of the 1st quarter. At the start of the final quarter the visitors had an 18 point lead. Then the Launceston fight back started, scoring 21 points while Barnes added 5 more. 4 of Launceston's were scored by their backs while 3 from Barnes were claimed by their pack.

The visitors got the first points on the board early with a penalty kicked by fullback O'Toole. Launceston went ahead 7 minutes later with an unconverted try by their fullback Hydleman when they had a man advantage for 10 minutes.

Barnes were in control for most of the rest of the 1st 1/2. Their first try was scored by no. 8 Crossland. O’Toole’s conversion hit a post and stayed out. Their second try was scored by lock Crane and converted by O'Toole. O'Toole later added 2 penalties, one while Launceston were down to 14 men.

The home team scored first in the 2nd 1/2 with a breakaway unconverted try scored by wing Edwards. Barnes went further ahead a few minutes later with a try scored by back row replacement Smyth, converted by O'Toole.

Just after the hour, from a driving maul, Launceston's hooker Salter went over; this was converted by fly-half Swash. Next the visitors replied with one scored by O'Toole, bringing his tally to 18 points. This was unconverted.

The hosts scored 2 more tries in the penultimate 5 minutes, the first scored by replacement Brownfield who converted his try. Then the last touched down by wing McGinley, converted by Brownfield. Launceston had a late chance with a penalty that they chose to kick for the points but missed.

This was Barnes first win in 5 encounters with Cornish teams.
