Barnes RFC have assessed our coaching requirements for the 2013/14 season and as part of this review we have agreed with Brett Taylor that he will stand down as Director of Rugby with immediate effect and that Jamie Turner, a long term coach at the club, will step up into the role.
On behalf of the committee I want to thank Brett for his commitment over the last two seasons and we wish him all the very best as he furthers his career elsewhere.
We are excited that Jamie has agreed to take on the top coaching role at Barnes after many seasons of hard work supporting Brett, and previously Carson Russell. This move is thoroughly deserved, and I am confident that it will be welcomed by the supporters and players of Barnes RFC at all levels.
Barnes remains community based, social and family focused and a true old fashioned rugby club that has existed for 100 years or more for the players and those that love the club. We have always attracted talented rugby players with great coaching delivered and a high standard of attractive rugby played in the top three sides. With two very social and capable sides, in the Occies and the Vets, and a resurgent Ladies XV, as well as a flourishing Minis section, we continue to attract players of all ages, sexes and abilities.
I know that Jamie fully supports the “one club” vision that we all share at Barnes RFC, and we feel sure that in his hands the club will go from strength to strength over many years to come.
