On the weekend of the 12th May, Barnes RFC shared an incredible day as a club. We were lucky enough (thanks to some super negotiation skills, hard work by our minis and juniors coaching team and a lot of brilliant sponsors) to have free run of Twickenham Stadium for the day.
Our minis and juniors teams took to the field to play on the hallowed turf while proud parents and friends watched from the side line. There were plenty of fun activities off the pitch for the family too, with guided tours of the official England changing rooms, a silent disco, clowns and face painting - not to mention some great food.
England and Harlequins stars, Danny Care and Fiona Pocock also shared the day with us, coaching the players, signing autographs and mingling with the crowd.
We’d like to say a massive thank you to Rhino, our Club Chairman, who used all his charm and wit (and years of business acumen) to negotiate this opportunity for the club. We’re also grateful to the many sponsors who helped make the day a reality and who support the wonderful charities that our club works alongside. Special thanks to:
