Barnes Ladies look set to have a blinder of a season based on the fantastic numbers that we've seen over the first two pre-season training sessions. We've got some great newbies, some returning stars and the old faithfuls are back in their numbers ready to have a bit of fun while we get fit and kick start the new season.
Our first few sessions have taken us back to basics - learning how to pass properly, where to aim when we're going in for a tackle and how to position ourselves for a tackle - all while playing some pretty fun games to help improve fitness and build up elementary skills that will come in handy during rugby matches.
For anyone considering trying out rugby, now is a great time to get down to the playing field and see what it's all about as we're starting from scratch so that the newbies and the old regulars are all on the same page when it comes to doing the basics in rugby.
As always, training takes place on Tuesdays at the Barne Elms Training Fields in Barnes, starting at 7.30pm. Whether you've never held a rugby ball before or you're a returning veteran, all skill levels, shapes and abilities are welcome - come down and give it a go.
