A hard-fought win
Barnes only needed 1 point and got it, Westcliff wanted more.
At times Barnes had little answer to Bury's forwards' expertise with pick-and-go and Bury struggled to deal with to Barnes' rolling maul.

2nd 1/2 indiscipline from EG was matched by their commitment in defence

- whose "own goal" meant that they played almost 3/4 of the match with 14 men
- they looked capable of as Guernsey claimed a deserved bonus point.
Civil Service fought to the end and were particulary good with their rolling mauls that got them 3 tries
Decided in the 1st 1/2 by Barnes' three-quarters on top form
Barnes generally defended well; Bury got 2 tries from an interception and a fluke
Their USP is fit young muscle and their general ability in defence was very effective. Barnes had at least 2 good chances to get 4 tries.
Barnes had their chances, a couple were squandered then an interception ensured the result.
controlling a game, for the most part, against a Gravesend team that has had a couple of very good results this season.

but their attack was limited to Newton’s boot. A point a minute from Barnes in the final quarter sealed their bonus point win.
(get away, that is). This game, won by one penalty could have gone either way, each side scoring 4 tries, with only one converted.
Barnes not capitalising on 2 YCs towards the end of the 1st 1/2 then conceding many penalties in the 2nd.
The build-up and scoring of Park’s 6 tries took somewhat less than a quarter of this game.

Good Result on big away trip
... after CS 1863 beat Barnes twice last season.
2 tries for each team; LI win by 2 penalties and 2 conversions.
Barnes score early then in the last 68 minutes the points scored were 26 all.
Battering Rams withstood in an exciting contest that could have gone the other way.
