Greetings from Michael "Rhino" Whitfield, Chairman of Barnes RFC  for the 2011/2012 Season

So after a momentous season last year we have clawed our way back into National 2 South and the reality has set in  - this is going to be a tough season!!

We have an enviable coaching staff, which attracts players from all over the UK and the innovation shown by Director of Rugby, Carson Russell, and his team of coaches is fast gathering an excellent reputation for all budding rugby players.

This season I am delighted to see that Gary Holmes is continuing as 1st XV Captain, he was a major reason for our success and team spirit last season and I know he is relishing the task ahead.

Barnes has been a successful club based on it's core values of having fun both on and off the pitch and we will not move away from those, they have been integral to the club over many years.

We remain as ambitious as before and continue to believe in playing for each other and playing for enjoyment, training will always be skill based and we will always play to our own abilities and not focus too much on our opposition, the quality of our performances is down to us and no one else

We operate 5 senior men’s teams, including a Vets team, a Ladies XV and we have a thriving minis section which trains on a Saturday and plays tournaments on a Sunday. This flexibility has proved very popular for the Mums and Dads in South West London. At the moment this is for ages 6-12 but will expand as we get more players

Barnes RFC is a really friendly, unpretentious rugby club, doing what rugby clubs do best playing hard on the field and playing hard off the field and next season will not be any different although we know we are in for a challenge
