It is with excitement and anticipation that we look forward to the  
start of the 2010/2011 Super 2's season at Barnes. We are once again  
competing in the second division of the Canterbury Shield league where  
we can expect a highly competitive, challenging and thoroughly  
enjoyable season of rugby.

The second team is a crucial element of Barnes with a focus on playing 
ambitious and enjoyable rugby. Barnes takes a squad-based approach  
across all teams, with the second team focusing on developing talent  
and providing a platform for players to push for selection with the  
first team.

We take pride in being a strong, competitive team with a great team  
ethos and esprit de corps both on and off the field. With Al Lydon  
taking on the coaching responsibilities and the return of  
international prop Rich Fenech as manager we are lacking [a?] little in the  
'brains trust' department.

As anyone who has participated with the Super 2's knows full well,  
captaining the side is a group effort during the season with  
leadership responsibilities across the team. I take great pride in  
being given the role of captain heading into season and look forward  
to taking the field with old friends as well as welcoming new faces to  
Barnes and the Super 2's.
